What LINEAGE is

LINEAGE is a private legacy platform that helps you capture voice reflections and transform them into written entries stored in your personal vault. It is operated by Ashley Lourey, Australia.

What we collect

• Email address — used for sign-in and to send you optional re-engagement emails.
• Voice recordings — uploaded to process your entry. Stored in private cloud storage, accessible only to you.
• Transcripts and transformed content — generated by AI from your recordings. Stored in your private vault, accessible only to you.
• Usage data — entry timestamps, output types, and themes. Used to run the product and surface patterns in your vault.

How we use it

• To run the transcription and transformation pipeline (Groq Whisper, Anthropic Claude).
• To store and display your vault entries.
• To send transactional emails — entry confirmation and optional re-engagement nudges. You can unsubscribe from any email with one click.
• We do not sell your data, and we do not use your content to train AI models — ours or anyone else’s.
• We do not share your recordings or entries with anyone except the processors listed below, and only ever to run the service for you. Producing your entry requires sending your audio and its transcript to the AI providers named in the next section.

Third-party services

• Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage. Your recordings, photos and entries are stored in Sydney, Australia.
• Groq (United States) — audio transcription via Whisper. Your audio is sent to their API for processing and is not retained beyond the request.
• Anthropic (United States) — text transformation via Claude. Your transcript is sent to their API for processing and is not retained beyond the request.
• OpenAI (United States) — generates the numerical index that makes your vault searchable. Where enabled, your transcript and entry text are sent to their API for processing.
• Resend (United States) — transactional email delivery.
• Vercel (United States) — application hosting and deployment.

Your vault is stored in Australia. Processing your recording into an entry requires sending it to the providers above, which means your audio and transcript are disclosed overseas, principally to the United States. By using LINEAGE you consent to that disclosure. We do not send your content anywhere else, and none of these providers is permitted to use it to train their models.

People you mention

Your entries are about other people — usually your children. If you add family members or recipients, you also give us their names and, optionally, an email address so a message you seal can reach them. That information is used only to run LINEAGE for you: it is never sold, never used for advertising, and never contacted except to deliver something you have deliberately scheduled. You are responsible for having a reasonable basis to share another person’s details with us, and you can delete any of them at any time.

Your rights

• Access and portability — you can export all your data at any time from your vault using the Export function.
• Deletion — you can delete individual entries, including their audio files, at any time. To request full account deletion, email info@lineageproject.dev.
• Unsubscribe — every email includes a one-click unsubscribe link.

These rights apply under the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and, where applicable, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Data retention

Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. Deleted entries are removed from storage immediately. On account deletion, all data is permanently removed within 30 days.

If something goes wrong

If your data is ever caught in a breach that is likely to cause you serious harm, we will tell you and notify the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, as the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme requires. We will tell you what happened, what was affected, and what to do — directly, and without waiting to be asked.

Age

LINEAGE is for adults. You must be 18 or over to create an account. Children appear throughout LINEAGE as the subject of what you record — they are not account holders.
